Electro-Harmonix
EH pedals, for me, are the typical example of great designs in the wrong case and construction. While they are soundwise great some of them becoming classics fully justified there's some things which I don't like:
- The case is usually way too big for the contents.
- The component quality is usually very poor.
- The construction is very rough handwork and requires quite some experience not to cause damage to the PCB traces.
- etc etc.
- And having said that... I really love working on these things because the results can be so great !

A gift from Frits van Mourik from Geluidsstudio Het Pand in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands. It was broken and the fix was fairly easy.I still do not understand that it has ever been in a working condition since the soldering suggested nobody ever touched it but one of the voltage regulators was soldered in in reverse position. The thing is very usable live.

Another one of those "must haves" of the classic EH designs. So far this one is dead as a doornail. I'll have to spend some more time to get it running again and more important, restore all the attempts to repair it prior to selling it to me... I'll get there. |
